Rajinder Singh Bedi

Rajinder Singh Bedi (1915-1984) was one of the most gifted Urdu writers and ranked second only to Krishan Chander in the realm of short stories. Satire was his forte. A conscientious filmmaker in Hindi, Bedi also wrote for films. His film Dastak (1970) won him many accolades. Bedi's novel, Ek Chaddar Maili Si, a touching tale of a woman in Punjab, was translated into English by Khushwant Singh.
