Manik Bandopadhyay

Manik Bandopadhyay (1908–56) authored 36 novels and 177 short stories in Bengali, including the classic Padma Nadir Majhi (Boat Ride on the Padma River) that was also made into an acclaimed film. His work was inspired both by Freudian and Marxist philosophies, dealing with lives of the ordinary and, probing the human mind—all in a career span of 27 years
