Goswami Tulsidas

Goswami Tulsidas was a poet-saint who lived in Varanasi in the 16th century. A devotee of Lord Rama, he wrote the Ramcharitmanas , which is regarded as a sacred text by Hindus worldwide. He also composed the Vinay Patrika, and Ratnavali. The Hanuman Chalisa composed by him has become a ritual prayer in households which every devotee can recite by heart. It is believed that it eradicates fear and disease and brings prosperity in the lives of those who chant it daily.
