Sir Thomas Malory

Sir Thomas Malory (1415–1471) was an English knight and writer known for Le Morte d’Arthur, the definitive prose work on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. He lived during the turbulent Wars of the Roses and was imprisoned multiple times, likely composing his masterpiece while incarcerated. Malory organised and translated various French Arthurian tales into a cohesive narrative that shaped the English literary tradition. His work, published posthumously by William Caxton in 1485, remains a seminal source of Arthurian legend, celebrated for its themes of chivalry, honour, and tragedy.
