Jerome Klapka Jerome was an English author and humourist best known for the comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889) Jerome began writing this novel after his honeymoon and his wife was replaced by his best friends, George Wingrave (George) and Carl Hentschel (Harris). The book was such a phenomenal success that the number of registered Thames boats went up by 50 percent after it was published. The novel has contributed immensely to the Thames becoming a major tourist attraction. Jerome has inspired and continues to inspire humourists and satirists across the world.
