Jaishankar Prasad (1889?1937), one of the main pillars of *Chhayavaad*, was equally renowned as a novelist, playwright, and short story writer. He stood on par with the great Sanskrit poets Kalidasa and Bhavabhuti. His poetry reflects deep faith and profound individualism. The fusion of these elements infused life into *Chhayavaad* and elevated Hindi poetry to soaring heights.
*Kamayani* is the epic composed by him, in which a mythological poetic stream beautifully and melodiously expresses his vision of life. Prasad drew inspiration for *Kamayani* from Indian culture and ancient scriptures, reshaping it with a philosophical perspective. The work carries the spirit of Advaita from the Upanishads, the harmony of Shaivite philosophy, and the deep touch of Buddhist compassion and bliss. In *Kamayani*, one finds a unique confluence of thought and poetry that makes it truly distinctive. Manu, passing through intense struggles in life, ultimately establishes balance and harmony and experiences true bliss. This bliss, inspired by faith (*Shraddha*), forms the central purpose of *Kamayani*. Rising above the boundaries of time, place, and caste, and placing humanity at its core, this epic is regarded as a glorious creation of the modern age.
